Ok, my little tinkering project down here at widener is workin on the horns for OJ. Who ever had it before did some kind of crazy butcher work to add a second horn. What they did was cut the wire right up at the stock horn, run it back under the dash into a SPDT switch. Then from one side of the switch back out to the stock horn. The other side of the switch went to a push button switch then through a ball of wire to nothing. So whatever extra horn was added and now missing could only be honked by pushing the steering wheel switch and at the same time mashing a really hard to reach and push button down under the dash. Throw in the fact that all his wiring was 2-3foot sections just taped together causing the stock horn to sound like a little squeek. Fawk all that mess and I'm gonna add a set of electric 10 inch chrome trumpets controled by a relay, and plus fix the stock horn as well.

    The plan

Ok, here is the relay on an 88 after being unbolted and just dangling. I'm gonna move it down with my other relay to shorten all the wiring.

Part number (this is for 88s only i think)

Rehooking everything up like my above diagaram right on the fusepanel cover.

I capped off the 12v that powered the stock relay and horn, and just used my own 20amp circuit that I added to power everything. Also, just fawked all the stock wiring, and butcherd that went from the stock relay to the horn and just ran my own. So the only wire I had to tap into from the stock harness was the ground trigger wire from the steering wheel.

Way to work the focus brandon...

    More to come...

Nice job cleaning up somebody else's mess! *Ain't it great knowing it's done right now?

Any chance of getting some audio of the horns once their done?

I'm thinking of adding some train horns... *do you know anyone who's running horns fed with an air compressor? *

SW Florida is God's waiting room and those folks can't hear anything that's not 130 decibles.... while they float into your lane, doing 25mph, and not looking in their mirrors.

John, I have Hadley airhorns on my motorhome. They are very cool and loud. I had actually played with putting them on my old C350 but never finished the project. Between the air tank, compressor and the actual horns there is a lot of equipment to hide.

The biggest thing was that I did not want the horns on the outside of the truck.
