My Christmas present

New to the Cabriolet world. Found this 1985 and purchased after Christmas.
It's lived its entire life in Southern California and has only 58K original miles.
Some Carb issues (sat for a very very long time). Need to get this worked out to
pass smog.

Has a Gearvendor on the C-6 and was surprised that it also has a huge extra fuel tank
under the back window.

I'll do a search but was wondering if anyone makes headers for the 1985 460 E350.
Its a non "cat converter" model and hoping some sort of "smog legal" headers
may exist. This will mostly be used to tow an old road race Mustang to the track but
looking for any gas saving options. Will tow to Willow Springs and California Speedway
and up to Sears point a few times. Hoping she will handle the grape vine as well.

I'll post some pictures when I get it all cleaned up. Sorry I did not post much info here
,...mostly just a proud new owner of a strange but oddly cool new tow "thing".
Don't know much of anything about these but sure I'll be hunting around here to gather info.

That's a good looking truck and should make a great tow rig for your stang.

What does it have for a carb. It likely just need a good cleaning and rebulid kit especially if it a holley, they never seem to handle long periods hibernation very well.

welcome..thats a nice rig what a find you must be well pleased, it'll look a brill outfit when hooked upto your muzzy in combo. ive owned one of these trucks for just over a year now and have spent all of that time repairing/restoring it ready for this years shows and rally events. mines got a 460 but its injection model 1989, theirs some pics on the site of it. hope you get the carb sorted it cant be much can it. i hope you enjoy your new toy lets have some more pics as soon as you can

Very nice rig! We're glad you found us, I believe you make Cabriolet owner #3 for the site. Please take a lot of pics and post them up, we'd love to see everything, inside and out! Also, you can check my pics, and especially uk-krewzer who's done one helluva restoration on his!

Looked at rebuildng the original Carb but found a Holley "factory remanufactered" unit
for apx. same cost as a pro rebuild. Since this is a California rig I needed the HLY 64-4444.
(Has some sort of cold start feature that CA needs) should be here by Wednesday.

Did not need to send the core for this so ended up with a back-up as well.
Probably could get away with a good cleaning but with all the thrill of a new/old truck etc.
I'm putting in new plugs, filters, belts and such. Thinking I should service the diff and transmission.
Very low miles but loads of cob webs underneath. Black Widows in this area so need to
get out the power washer.

Still trying to figure out how all the fuel switches work. The old gal who owned this is kindly
looking for any of the original owners manuals. Hate to admit it but I'm also trying to understand how/when to use the Gear Vendor unit. (Manual and Auto settings) Should be a little more informed soon.

Just saw the pics of the "UK resto". Wow!!,.. all I can say is that is what mine wants to be someday.
The efi 460 sounds nice as well. After seeing your interior I'll be only showing pics of my exterior moving forward. Kidding!

(Couple super duties running around here with service boxes running them, I wanna cry... thousands spent on custom paint jobs dso box matched truck, and they left the 70's Chebby lights? Aaargh! On a side note, the neweest Nampa city fire truck runs OBS headlights and turnsignals....)

If you get your hands on any of the old paperwork, PLEASE try and scan it and post it up. I've been looking for Cabriolet paperwork and haven't had much luck. Ebay had some old marketing stuff, but it was later model and was for their truck conversions, not their van conversions.

sorry i avnt been on here for a while work etc been really busy, have you managed to sort your carb problems out? were are you up to with it at the moment. got any more pics for us to have a look at
