Probably be okay on the roof, but will have to get the right color for the hood.

Sorry, crappy pics, I was in a hurry this morning.
Body work turned out okay at best, paint went on nice, I just need to go see my normal paint guy today and figure out what color we really need, then we can decide whether or not to repaint the roof.

    Hope it looks okay.

Not sure if it is curing more, or if it is the bright sunlight, but it looks much better now. Maybe my eyes are more tired? maybe I am trying to get out of redoing it? LOL I have no idea

The color we put on last night was Ford paint code 2H IT IS WRONG!!!!
After looking at the book and comparing I think it is a 26 also put on 1988 ford trucks. It is a med cabrnet or something.

We will try 26 on the hood tonight. We will see if the hood looks okay, and blends nice we might re do the roof.

Gee how did the hood turn out.

Freakin worse I think, crap need to find someone that can match paint, maybe the match isn't the problem, maybe it is the mix.

    Well here you go.

Well hey atleast they are sealed up, now once we find the right color it won't take long to scuff them and paint them the right color.

    But crap, now what?

Guess I will try every paint, and body shop in town till I get the same answer from more than one person?

In their defense, the roof really darkened up today, so maybe this goofy paint just needs to cure.

    Hey we can still hope.

I think the roof actually might be closer in color than the hood, or maybe it had longer to cure? Either way sorry hun, that had to suck :

I'd paint it all the color of the hood..... it's pretty.

Hours and hours of labor, working late into the night, stealing time from my kids, and what does she notice? the rear view mirror? *

    :poke

Okay here is the story, based off the guys at the body shop today, who very graciously went way, way out of their way (wow the word way 3 times there) To try and find the right color for me.

The original color on the truck probably was a 2G, not a 2H, exact same color only with poly (metalic)

So they mixed up a couple ounces of 2G, and we tried it. I thought it was very close, He said, nope way too light.
(I am a moron, and I am color blind)

So he says, lets get the computer (called profit) and see what it says, because it takes into account the fade, and whatever else it takes into account.

So the computer came up with, Dark toreador red GM code 51
    Check it out Duplicolor

Which the PPG number in DBC product is 5115.

He made up a few ounces, and it looked perfect, even he thought it was very good. So that is the color we will try next.

Going to try a can of touch up paint to see what it looks like.

    Cool, I think.
