Hi guys, update on the project, just got a new body lift kit 3". Will have pic when it stops raining tomorrow. I need to know one thing, would it be stupid to think of putting a 5,9 cummins with 5spd and 44 in it? yes or no thanks.

Are you talking about a Dana 44 for a front axle? That will probably be a little light.

Beyond that, the cummins is just completely personal preference.

Coming along nicely! (pun intended) And quickly!

Did it already have a tire rack on the back? Either way make sure the inner fender brace is inside the fender. Its an extra piece of metal that wraps around the tailight and the tire rack bolts thru it. Without it the tire rack will tear up the fender.

If your battery light is on. Either your alternator is bad, or the wiring to it is bad.
Maybe you don't have all of the wires hooked up to it yet?

The starter will not have anything to do with charging.

It is either the battery, alternator, or wiring in between.

Now lets look at something else. You took a Gas powered body and put it on a diesel frame correct?

The gas engines of that era were internally regulated alternators and the diesels were externally regulated.
So for the swap you would have to take the voltage regulator off of the old fender well, put it on the new body fenderwell and wire it.
Assuming you did that and the system is overcharging, then you need a new regulator.
