(Erik, you didn't go over to Illinois and trade yours for an Excursion and hope nobody would notice did you?)
price is actually right around the retail price :o but at that price they'll have it for a while just like the place in CO had theirs for quite some time (year +)

Ha, I actually posted that add already.
And you will get my Centurion when you pry my cold dead fingers from it.
Even then I doubt it.

Definately!!
I thought this was fairly high, especially since a local dealer has a 2000 4WD V-10 Excursion with 104K for $11,800 that has been tempting me.
Does any body have any real world experience with the V-10s as far as mileage and reliability? It would probably be an even trade-off for mileage between the Cent, but I am thinking about this for my daily driver and letting my daughter drive my 4Runner.
checkout the gas forums over at www.thedieselstop.com and you'll find quite a few guys there who will defend thier gas motors to the death. There have been some threads about fuel mileage in the past there too.
As far as an X goes everyone over there seems to say that you definately need the rear sway bar if it wasn't equipped from the factory. And for towing the stock springs are horrid, either air bags or different leaf springs.
Don't tell me you're thinking about parting with your 4 door http://www.fourdoorbronco.com/temp/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif

My opinion on V-10's: they suck.
Ford and Dodge both. They get worse mileage than either of my 460's.
And even if you do get decent mileage it use. does not last long.
(yes, my opinion is biased, they never should have killed the 460.......*sniffle*)
Ford had issues with the early V-10's, later models have been fixed.
Ist year of the X they also had a slight problem with the rearends falling out. http://www.fourdoorbronco.com/temp/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif *(I hate when that happens http://www.fourdoorbronco.com/temp/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif )

No, I have just been wanting something more comfortable than my 92 4Runner for a daily driver. I love my yoder but I am way too big for it. I had a '94 Ranger ext cab with a cover which was quite comfortable, but traded for the yoder four years ago because if the, Magnum at that time, was broke down, I couldn't get the whole family in the Ranger's jump seats.
I first started looking at 94-96 Broncos, then Expeditions. Then I keep thinking I could have a gas-X for the same money. The reason I don't consider an Explorer is I would like to be able to tow my enclosed ATV trailer with my second vehicle. So when we go for short distance ATV outings my wife could pull it and I could pull my Airstream with the Cent.
The yoder has lots of life left in it at only 230k http://www.fourdoorbronco.com/temp/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh1.gif ?so I would like to let my daughter drive it out, next year when she gets her license. Of course she is throwing a fit about it being a five speed.
An Expedition with a 5.4 would get close to same mileage as my Yoder which has been steadily falling to the 15-17 range lately. The Excursion seems like extreme redundency having the Cent, but I might as well be comfortable, if it doesn't cost too much more money.
Of course I could just lose weight! http://www.fourdoorbronco.com/temp/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/maggie.gif

That is why I would rather wait for an 01 or 02. I try to avoid the first year of anything. My uncle and brother-in-law both had problems with their 99 F-350s. My brother and brother-in-law both now have '02s and have had very few problems.
I think you need a C150 for your daily driving vehicle http://www.fourdoorbronco.com/temp/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
If you're set on an SUV then you've pretty well already looked at your options. I don't know if a truck would be able to serve your purposes today but since you said you had a ranger you might consider one of the f150 supercrew's. My dad has one w/ the 5.4 & auto, it tows ok for a 1/2 ton truck but you know the trailer is there. There is adequate space in the back seat though not exactly comfortable for adults and long trips.

test drive that v10, I was REALLY disappointed the first year of the v10's when I test drove it. The brand new truck could not get out of its own way. Pulled out in an intersection *before realizng it had absolutely no get up and go. Was scared I was gonna total the dang thing on the test drive http://www.fourdoorbronco.com/temp/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif
Big boat is what it felt like compared to my centurion.

We now own an EX and love it and yes it has the V10. Compared to our old 351W 4 door the EX gets better mileage. The last 300 mile road trip we took we got just over 13.5mpg. As for power it has way more power than the 351W. Towing is great with it but it has the towing package.
The V10 motors only had one issue with them and that was blowing spark plugs. One cause is weak threads and combined that with over torqueing the spark plug would cause failure. I also read that the V10 seems to last longer that the older gas engines. I did alot research on this before we decided by an EX. I visited V10 forums and EX forums as well reading all I could on them. Yes everyone seems to upgrade or add a sway bar to them and they say it does wonders for the truck. The brand name slips my mind right now.
The 4-door had more room than the EX. The EX is more comfortable to drive. I also read were many people that do a lot of towing saying that the V10 out pulls there old 460 motors.
Just food for thought. We love the EX and the wife said she will never buy a car again.

Thanks for the first hand knowledge. I have decided, for now, just to stick with what I have and try to avoid car payments for another year. The wise thing to do....but not the fun thing. http://www.fourdoorbronco.com/temp/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif
For us the payment only changed by about $50 a month from her car payment. *We got a really good deal on the EX.
I sure would love to have a C350 4 door. *Don't need it but I sure do like them. *http://www.fourdoorbronco.com/temp/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

My wife had a v-10 excursion and we dumped it because of her philosophy that one pedal must be floored at all times!!!
I once got 13.2 on the road to Vegas but my wife always averaged 9.9 mpg.
Dumped it for one with the PSD and it jumped to 15.6 in the same vehicle!!! (16.5 after the Hypertech Power Programmer)

I can't believe you got better mileage out of the v-10 than the 351w!!!!
The only way to compare them for me since my wife never lifted her Excursion was stock and my 351 got a solid 17 or better city and over 20 when I drove it home from Colorado when I first got it!!! *Then again I didnt let my wife drive the c-150 either *http://www.fourdoorbronco.com/temp/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Keep in mind my 351W had to spin at 3K at highway speeds an the EX is only spinning around 2k. No OD in my old 4 door.
