Truck for Dad

My father's '96 chevy has some issues. His check engine light is on. In NY on a '96 or newer if the light is on you can't pass inspection. The one way to get by that is to do over $300 dollars of work on it trying to get the light to go out. He did over $500 of work and it still won't go out. If you do the work on it they will waive the inspection. The only catch is that you have to have the light out by the next inspection or you have to park it. The otherday on his way home from town he lost the rear end. He's driving it in 4x4 now to get back and forth. I have been looking to get him a cheap (under $3,000) replacement. I'm checking the usual, Ebay, auto trader... I didn't know if anyone has a possible lead on a truck. The only things that I am worried about would be rust, 4X$ and too high of mileage. I know you guys see them out there. Let me know if you see one.

AAA has a habdful of trucks that fit that marker... nice little F150 4x4 ex cab, probably a 5.8, could only be a 5.0.. unsure, buckets, full bench...

Whaddya want to spend? Probably make you and owner for 2500- or so..

then there is the fact we are 100 million miles apart. Then again, if you get it on a big rig, 8 car hauler, might could g et it shipped for 4-500... I will ask Danny today number, white, gray int, XLT, so premium cloth, PW PL CC AC tilt, etc. 160k? only half looked while I buffed it yesterday.

and the list goes on and on. F150's seem to be under the 3000 mark much of the time. Mid 90's seem to be where the price is.

Yeah, The only thing about that is NY hooks the '96 and newer up to a diagnostic machine that is connected to the DMV computer in Albany. They can't see the light just the code that it throws.

I think that chevy and ford are in the running. Not too sure about dodge.

Other things that would be nice but aren't a must:
3/4 ton or 1 ton (1/2 is fine)
extended cab
8' bed is what I'm looking for

AAA has a 3/4 ton 7.5 variant of that, standard cab, E40D... low miles, 62, 82, sumthin... 92-96.. probably get it to you for 25-3k... Tourmaline, grey guts, PW/PL... A/C

That loooks nice. Not sure what's going on whith the truck issue right now. Money's tight and he say's he is going to keep driving in front wheel/four wheel drive. We'll see.
