I know my truck isn't quite a 4door Bronco, but it is a 4door F150 Centurion from this era of trucks...

http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u269/Skandociouss/Truck%20Stuff/2.jpg

Anyways... Since the regular Centurion owners like myself don't have an awesome forum like you guys, I figured you'd be the best ones to ask. Any clue on the production numbers of these rare trucks that Centurion churned out over the years? Just a bit curious as to exactly how rare my truck is... Thanks guys. Oh and if anyone has a rig like mine, say somethin! I'd love to hear from you and see some pic ;)

Welcome.

Very Sharp looking truck.
We have no idea on production numbers, just rumors and speculation.

I had spoken with Centurion before they got bought out and after. In both cases it seems like they didn't even know.

Haha some help you guys are. LOL, no worries, I figured it was pretty much a lost cause anyway... I have tried contacting Southern Comfort but they know nothing about the old Centurion trucks... Such a shame that they bought out the company and just erased a piece of history instead of preserving it :( Thanks anyways guys and gals. Great forum you've got here ;)

Centurion lost most of their records long before Southern Comfort got involved.

Hey Skando! Beautiful truck, thanks for jumpin' in and saying Hi.

5000 has always been the number tossed around from Centurion owners. But you have to consider Magnum..... and what's the other coach builder also??

The Custimizer

Centurion lost most of their records long before Southern Comfort got involved. Thanks a bunch. Yeah as you can see from my joint date, I joined about a year ago when I bought my truck and lurked around the forums a few times, although this was my first time posting. Feel a bit out of place since I'm not QUITE a fourdoorbronco :p I frequent another Ford truck forum where I've got almost 4000 posts :D

I wouldn't worry about owning a fourdoorbronco. I think I am going to widen the scope of the website some. You're not the first centurion truck owner to come around and say dang there is nothing for us. We know all of the specs for those trucks, so we've got a pretty good base here.

Well except production numbers, ha. Centurion never kept track. But remember they were done by hand. In a single plant location. That was not all that big....

Was just reading throught this and when i was looking around to find info on my cents about 6 or 7 months ago. I talked to a girl that worked at starcraft. she said she had worked there when they started the 4 doors and stoped them. she told me that all starcraft is know is a small shop in a different building with no parts left for the 4 doors. But still have parts for other rigs like the vans. And are still doing work under the name starcraft. she tryed to run my numbers off the tag in the drivers door, but no luck. but she did tell me she had no listing because it could have been made in CA. She told me they had a small plant there and that the rigs that were made in CA still got the same emblems as the ones at the home plant so you can't tell them apart. I asked her how many she thought were made and she said about 3000. This is just what i was told from one person. Has anyone been told anything like this?

I had heard 2000 over the course of what, ten years production, with less than half being 350s.

OIC did you here anything about a plant in CA

Traveler

Never heard about a SUV plant in CA, I had heard there was a plant that did the van conversions out there.

Seems like it was something about CARB emissions, they have to be licensed or registered out there. Dang, can't remember where I read that at.

I am not sure even Centurion themselves could have told us how many were made, with rumors of '78 models and the Early 80's models. but you know it can't be many.

If they only would have kept a little thing called records.

Everyone that i have talked to said there could only be about 2000 to 3000 i would think 2000 would be a long shot but if they had another plant then mabe 3000.

I think ill try to get back in touch with her.

If anyone has anymore info let me know

Here is some interesting information...

Eugene Lehman was the President of Centurion at one point in time. I am not sure for how long and or from what dates. Eugene is still doing business come to find out in White Pigeon, MI of all places. He is the Pres. of a company called Quadra MFG. I wonder if he would be willing to answer any question we may have, that's if he is willing to.

Link how I found Eugene (http://www.corporationwiki.com/Michigan/White-Pigeon/quadra-manufacturing-inc-2521119.aspx)

Well first I would like to say sorry i didn't get off work on time and now its 8:00pm i told everyone i would be here at 6pm. also i took notes on the phone call but left them on my desk. so this is what i rember.

I called the number i had and asked for Mr. Lehman. there was some round about talking but after he was on the phone i asked him some questions.

1. Do you still have a cent? He said No, not one of them, but there are still quite few that run around town and they are owned by the original people.

2.Do you know how many were made? No, they made 2 per day of each kind. and in 1986 he sold the company to another person. who continued to build in 92 they went to 3 per day of each kind till ford stoped making broncos. then it was sold to southern comfort.

so we can do the math to get the about #

3. was the a plant in CA? Yes, but only made the vans not the broncos.

I was also told that he had family that ran the plant and his nephew got to make the first cut on the first bronco.

Also even after he sold the company family still worked there.

He dosen't know of anyone with parts. this is the sad part. after they tryed to auction off everthing, what didn't sell went in the garbage. and there was a lot of stuff. :puke:

so i know that everyone has a question or two so send them to me and ill ask him all at once that way i don't keep bugging him.

awilson
08-25-2008, 10:33 PM
also the phone call was so short because i was at work. Thats why he gave me his E-mail.

also the best part was for me is he asked me where i lived and i told him lyons, OR. that he didn't rember and then told him its about 30min east of salem off HWY22. He said o i know were that is. He has family that lives about a hour from me in Corvallis.

so thats it i got to go eat dinner.

Very cool man!

Ask him if he has any of their detailed build plans, assembly procedures.
If he has any production pictures in the plant of the trucks during assembly? Maybe we could get digi copies to put up on the site???? That would be cool.
I know when I talked to the shop back in the late 90's they still had all the plans on exactly how to build them, not sure why I never asked if copies were availeable.

o ya sorry, like i said i left my notes on my desk. i did ask him if he had any brochures or build plans for them and if he did could i buy them? he said he has some stuff but did not know what all he had and he will look and mail some things to me. and yes what ever he sends i will make copys for everyone.

and i will put pic of inside the plant as the number one question.

I didn't know you got to go to the plant, thats sweet.:rockon

Woops! Sorry, it was a phone convo.
Would have been cool to have been at the plant when they were still rolling them off.
I'm not too far away from White Pidgeon and plan to try and "make the pilgrimage" to the closed plant with my '94, just depends on how much longer I'm back here.

o i think i just read that wrong. He told me that another company is in the plant now. but i wonder if any of the workers from centurion got jobs with the new company. if you went by and found one of them that worked on the production floor i bet you could find out all kinds of info that is not on paper or the the people in the offices know.

Just a rough guess.
52 weeks a year, 5 working days a week, and 7 typical holidays a year. 253 working days a year.
2 a day, 253 working days a year. 1986-1992 if they worked the whole year 3,036 then add
3 a day from 1992-1996 at 253 days a year 1,012

So not more than 4,048 total.
Just a rough estimate.

well my mind is not to far gone yet. i rembered everything on my notes but one thing. this company www.atcomp.com this is the company that did the switch panels most of the lighting for centurion. i called them be for i got to work and they still make the bezel to go around the switch panel. they also have the over head lights that are in my c350. i gave them the part number off my switch panel the sean sold me and they told me they still have the plans for it. they are going to check and see if they have the parts to build it. here are the pics of what im talking about. the over head light is the black on.

think he said 2 of each kind a day then the 92 up style they made 3 of each kind a day right? so c-150 250 and 350 be 6 a day then 9 a day for the 92 style
