I was trying to test fuel flow last night so first found where I needed to jump the wires. And hey not too bed when I finally found it. Silly me is feeling all proud of herself when I setup everything underneath with the "return" fuel line running into a coke bottle. So I jump the fuel pump and sure enough I hear it running and hear the fuel splashing. It takes a second to realize hey wait a minute it really sounds like that fuel is falling. And rather than immediately disconnecting kinda peek my head under the truck and sure enough fuel dumping out of the truck and on the ground. Hmmmm lovely. So I disconnect and walk around and start feeling oh about 2 inches tall. It was not the return fuel line I disconnected, but instead the fuel line from the tank to the in-line fuel pump ?http://www.fourdoorbronco.com/temp/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/11doh.gif
To make matters worse I had left everything under it tools, oh gee the cell phone etc ha! So now I get to lat down in the gallon of gas and hook up the fuel line and then unhook the return and try it again. Now my cell phone has actual gas splashing in the lcd display, so I kinda figured it was a goner, and that was forgetting about the corrosive action of gas on plastics ?http://www.fourdoorbronco.com/temp/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/slap.gif

So I take everything down including the chopped top 20 oz "collection" bottle ha! and set it back up like thus:

As you can see there is already fuel in there but well below the coke label. Hooking up the fuel pump only returned 1/3 of the bottle in 30 seconds and then not even quite half of the bottle in 60 seconds. But the system is definately pulling a gallon in 30 seconds. http://www.fourdoorbronco.com/temp/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/Oo.gif

Well I buttoned everything up cause heck I was pretty tired and I didn't want the gasoline in my hair much longer. Just try to remember like I did not just how corrosive gasoline is ;) My cell phone fell apart last night. http://www.fourdoorbronco.com/temp/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/11doh.gif But hey here is a pic of the gasoline in the LCD display before she fell apart http://www.fourdoorbronco.com/temp/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

lmao I was just trying to copy as many numbers as possible out of the phonebook before it died. Got to the S's *http://www.fourdoorbronco.com/temp/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/Oo.gif
Better than having to figure out what all was in there.
I just figure I make a pretty good example of what not to do when working on a truck http://www.fourdoorbronco.com/temp/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Good to hear you're ok. *sorry to hear the cell is dead http://www.fourdoorbronco.com/temp/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif *Suggestion for the future, mine gets clipped to either the side mirror arm or the wiper arm that way if I forget it when I go driving off it's still there and it's not under the truck.

well I don't like having to get out from under the truck when it rings http://www.fourdoorbronco.com/temp/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
and I had just gotton off of it while under the truck so there it was lol
but yeah I'm learning this along the way; and hopefully others will learn from my mistakes http://www.fourdoorbronco.com/temp/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
