View Full Version : Raising the Rear Bucket seats
Weekend projects to the Centurion. The second row bucket seats sat rather low to the ground. Every adult that has ridden in them commented that they felt like they lacked legroom and could not see forward over the front seats. Makes sense to me the seats were practically on the floor so I decided to raise them 1.5". The lack of legroom seems to be that inorder for you lower thigh just above the knee to sit on the front of the cushion your legs must point forward, like in a sports car, not possible since the front seats are there. the 1.5" seemed to be enough to still allow ample headroom and make for a comfortable seating height.
removed the seat revealing this
Centurion had to modify the bracket they got with the seats to fit correctly. the bolt in the middle back is an added plate on the bottom.
got some 1.5" square tubing from the local scrap yard to begin my project with
used a wire brush to clean up surface rust. marked the points for drilling the holes and future cut marks.
first coat of paint before cutting
cut and painted all surfaces ready for installation
installed to look like this
from the back you can see the height difference the left one has been lifted.

This is an older thread but I did notice that the second row had individual captain seats. Can anyone tell me what seat brackets are used? I ask because I would like to run four individual seats as opposed to my current bench seats for the front and middle row.

A lot of conversions are done using older Expedition seats. Just getting captains seats out of other junked fords for the most part. You can make an application to fit fine but things like seat warmers and power seats won't work unless you go the extra mile to wire them up.
no clue about who makes the brackets, but they appear to be the a "standard"(if such exists" conversion base that Centurion modified to bolt down on the floor where the rear bench was.
From what I remember you would be better off fabricating your own brackets if you have the ability and equipment.
