Based on your screen name I assume we have another Airstream owner in the group. Welcome. Good luck on your potential purchase. I love my '94 C-350. It works very well for pulling my '83 34ft Limited. Without a turbo the '93 won't have nearly as much get up and go as a newer model or Excursion diesel. Of course you can always add a turbo. Most likely if you have a '66 model you won't have nearly as much as I do to pull though.

Yup,
my 66 only weighs 4000 lbs so I may be able to get away with a 351 ya' think? The 460 threatens to be a gas guzzler I am afraid. Found out this fine diesel is sold drat.

I used to pull my '70 31ft Sovereign with my '89 Magnum (The blue one in the lower left corner of the intro splash photo) The 351 did a reasonable job. It was mainly the half ton suspension that gave me problems. Of course a set of Reese load leveler bars helped immensely.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy a C350 with a 460 if you find one. Although the 460 doesn't do quite as well on mileage empty, it will probably do about the same while towing, with a lot more power. In my Magnum with a 351 and C6 three speed auto I got 11-12mpg empty and 6-10 towing. My '94 C-150 with a 351 and E4OD four speed auto trans would get 12-14 empty and about the same as the magnum towing.

All in all I am much happier with the 350 for towing. I don't even bother with sway bars on my 23' cargo trailer. The only time I have ever had any sway problems with the 350 and the 34' was letting off on a big downhill for a slower car in front of me while getting passed by a semi after getting up to over 80mph to build momentum fo the next long steep hill. A couple of taps on the brake controller level took care of that though.
