What was the reason for cutting out the roof? Damage?

it was rough plus it had some kind of rack that wore various holes in it and I wanted a ribbed roof for the strength so I could run a Visor on it

I was checking out your progress on it and it looks great! I am assuming you are using Arrowcraft rear fenders? They are an old Falls Fiberglass design and look pretty nice. My family bought Falls Fiberglass 3 years ago, and I found the orignal dually 73-79 ford molds in the back. I kept them in case Arrowcraft decides to stop building the fenders. Most fiberglass shops will lay out some glass in the molds pretty cheap. I'm thinking about building the same thing you are someday, but with a diesel motor. Here is a pic of my 77 f-250 crew cab with it's small tires on it. http://i19.tinypic.com/440g8w0.jpg

I don't really care for Arrowcrafts Fenders for these fords it looks to me that they used a chevy fender for the base model

I am going to build my own dually fenders that uses the original style wheel opening molding from the 73-79 truck

Yeah, When I restore the truck to stockish, the bumper is going. Has arrowcraft changed their design? The molds I have look very 73-79 ford, with the beltline molded in and all.

can you post up some pictures of your molds

That is pretty much what they look like. The sides are perfectly mated to the 73-79 ford beltline. I'm sure by looking at you pic that arrowcraft has not changed their molds. Seeing it up close and bright white like that, I see what you mean by the resemblance to the chevy fenders.

and the 73-79 wheel molding will not fit that truck but I bet I can fit a 73-87 chevy molding in that opening on that fender

they are not a bad Fender by no means and for most people they are just fine I am just anal enough to want matching wheel openings and not a generic chevy style dually fender

That's understandable. I've thought about making dually fenders out of stepside steel fenders before, but I think they would look goofy on a ford of that age, since they looked goofy on the stepsides to start with. Now a 60's chevy on the other hand....
